Connecting the Community: The Salvation Army's Resource Fair in Colorado Springs

At The Salvation Army in Colorado Springs, we are committed to supporting families and individuals in need by connecting them with vital community resources. That’s why we are thrilled to announce the expansion of our Resource Fair, a collaborative effort with key community partners such as the Public Health Department, Care Coordinators, WIC Coordinators, D11 Schools, ARC, and more. This initiative has already demonstrated a profound impact, and we are excited to grow our efforts by incorporating Red Shield and Family Services in the future.

A Strong Start: Immediate Assistance and High Attendance

Our first Resource Fair was a tremendous success, boasting an almost 100% attendance rate. Clients not only received crucial information but were also able to sign up for essential services on the same day. Parents had the opportunity to meet with their children’s school principals, ensuring a smooth transition into their new educational environment. They also connected with the McKinney Vento Specialist to address any unmet needs, from school supplies to essential services.

Families with infants received support from WIC Coordinators, including formula, diapers, and enrollment assistance. Resources were also available for parents of children with behavioral challenges, helping them access necessary therapies and interventions. Additionally, attendees obtained 31-day bus passes, ensuring transportation to job interviews, employment, and critical appointments.

Looking Ahead: Expanding Our Offerings Every 90 Days

Due to the overwhelming success of our first event, we are excited to announce that the Resource Fair will be held every 90 days throughout the year. Future fairs will expand to offer even more essential services, including:

  • School and summer program enrollment assistance
  • Essential vaccinations for school-aged children
  • Summer camps and extracurricular program resources
  • Support and services for individuals with disabilities
  • Mental health services and counseling referrals
  • Developmental assessments for preschool-aged children

Our Commitment to the Community

At The Salvation Army, our mission is to meet human needs without discrimination. The success of the Resource Fair is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the incredible impact we can achieve when we come together to support those in need.

We invite everyone in the community to participate and take advantage of these invaluable resources. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and details on how to get involved!
