Fighting for Families: Hope at The Family Hope Center

Mar 27, 2025

"While women weep, as they do now, I’ll fight. While little children go hungry, as they do now, I’ll fight… While there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight—I’ll fight to the very end!”

— William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army

At The Salvation Army Family Hope Center, these words are more than just a mission—they are a daily commitment. Every night, 31 families facing homelessness find refuge, support, and a pathway to stability through our programs. Whether escaping domestic violence, job loss, or financial hardship, these families receive safe shelter, warm meals, and life-changing resources to help them regain independence.

For families like Patricia’s, the Family Hope Center has been a lifeline.

“Due to our circumstances, my son had not been able to eat unless it was a meal at The Salvation Army Family Hope Center shelter. I’m so grateful for the clothing and Safeway gift card—you have no idea how much this helped us get back on our feet," said Patricia.

She is just one of 133 families we’ve helped successfully transition into stable housing.

Patricia and her two children were dropped off at the Family Hope Center without a stroller, shoes, or jackets for her or her 6 year-old. We provided clothing, food, and the customized support Patricia needed to secure permanent housing. Within just a few days, Patricia proudly announced she was accepted into permanent housing in Pueblo and was moving in that day! With a big hug and tears of joy Patricia began a fresh start.

  • The Family Hope Center is more than a shelter, it's ...
  • Emergency housing providing a safe place for families in crisis.
  • Hot meals & food assistance ensuring no child goes hungry.
  • Job training & financial guidance helping parents build a stable future.
  • Emotional & spiritual support giving families the strength to heal and move forward to self-sufficiency.

With 1 in 4 families in our shelter fleeing domestic violence, our mission is more important than ever. No family should have to choose between safety and survival.

Join the Fight—Be the Hope! The work of The Salvation Army in Colorado Springs is only possible through community support.
