A Journey to Safety: A Mother’s Courageous Leap
There's no valley God cannot reach!
At The Salvation Army in Colorado Springs, we are dedicated to being a source of refuge and hope for individuals facing unimaginable challenges. This month, we had the honor of supporting a single mother and her 1-year-old daughter as they began a new chapter in their lives.
After bravely leaving an out-of-state domestic violence relationship, this determined mother sought safety and stability in our shelter. In just 46 days, her resilience and hard work paid off. She secured a job and transitioned into a 2-year transitional housing program, setting the foundation for a brighter future for herself and her child.
Domestic violence is a pervasive issue that affects millions of individuals each year. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner violence. Additionally, over 20,000 calls are placed to domestic violence hotlines nationwide each day. Survivors often face significant barriers to stability, including financial hardship, lack of resources, and emotional trauma.
This story is a powerful reminder of the strength and determination it takes to overcome hardship. At The Salvation Army, we are committed to walking alongside families and individuals as they rebuild their lives, offering resources, encouragement, and a pathway to stability. If you or someone you know is in need of support, we’re here to help.
Together, we can provide hope and change—one step at a time.
